Peter Warmerdam - Veterinarian / Owner

Trained at Massey University I graduated in 1987 and commenced work shortly afterwards here in my home town of Upper Hutt. After gaining a broad practical base I decided to extend my experience and spent 9 months working in Britain and Holland in several mixed practices. On returning to N.Z. in late 1988, I took up a permanent position at this practice. In 1990 I purchased the practice and have since managed and developed the clinic to cater for the veterinary needs of the Upper Hutt area. With the growth of the practice and more vets being employed, more of my time is now spent on support as consultant to the other vets and practice management.

I continue to live locally with my wife and two children and our pets; Milly a Schnoodle; and Coco a smoochy, full of fun Burmese. My hobbies are tramping, cycling, fishing and forestry.

Laura Gallagher - Veterinarian

Originally from Manchester in England, I graduated as a vet from Edinburgh University in 2000. After 5 years as a small animal veterinarian in the UK I took some time out to travel to New Zealand, and here I stayed! I have worked in Kilbirnie and Silverstream and am excited to now be joining the team here at Maidstone Veterinary Clinic and living in the Akatarawa valley. I enjoy all aspects of small animal veterinary work, particularly soft tissue and I am happy to see your pocket pets.

I have a eight year old son and as a family we are members of the Hutt Valley Thunderbolts BMX club. I am also a keen hiker and road cyclist.

Amy O'Sullivan - Veterinarian

I graduated from Massey University, and began my first job here at Maidstone Veterinary Clinic in 2008. I then worked across several different small animal practices across the Wellington region, before moving to Adelaide for a year-long OE at the start of 2017. I arrived back in New Zealand in 2018 and am excited to have re-joined the MVC team. I enjoy all aspects of small animal practice. I am a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Emergency and Critical Care Chapter. My other professional interests are ophthalmology (treatment of eye diseases) and soft tissue surgery.

Outside of work I am a keen rock climber, and really enjoy getting outdoors to climb, hike or cycle. I have two much-loved cats at home, Scotter and Smidgen.

Brandon Brooks - Veterinarian

I'm from the state of Virginia in the USA and went to school at the College of William and Mary and Virginia Tech, graduating in 1997 with my veterinary degree. I worked in a private practice in Virginia for nine years before deciding to come live and work in New Zealand. I joined the MVC team in August 2006 and enjoy all the the Hutt Valley and Wellington have to offer, from great outdoor pursuits to excellent coffee and good people.
