The only independently and locally owned veterinary practice in Upper Hutt since 1978

Our veterinarians carry out annual vaccination and wellness checks, geriatric pet checks and blood testing and second opinions, along with a wide range of medical and pre-surgical assessments for companion animals.

Veterinary nurse appointments are available from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. Appointments for suture removals, administering worming treatments, flea treatment applications, expressing anal sacs, nail clipping and weight management consults must be booked prior to arrival to ensure a veterinary nurse is available.

Our veterinary nurses also groom cats. These patients need to be admitted at 8am as the groom takes place during the day. Sometimes sedation is required. This is decided on a case by case basis, depending on the individual animal, the cat’s temperament and the amount of grooming that needs to be done. Nurses can also remove mats from unruly cats that are difficult to groom at home.

We do not groom dogs. If you have a query about a groomer for your dog, please give us a call and we can help point you in the right direction.

Ranging from dog neuters, bitch speys, cat speys and neuters, eye surgery, wound stitch-ups, lump and mass removals, dental descale and polish with or without extractions, exploratory surgery, radiographs, ultrasounds and biopsies. We have two orthopedic surgeons who perform cruciate surgery including tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA), luxating patella repair, and femoral head and neck ostectomies.

Cattery and dog kennels

We board vaccinated cats and dogs in our kennels and cattery. This can be long term or short term stays for felines and small to medium sized dogs. For long term stays, Christmas, and Easter holidays a deposit is required before the pet arrives for boarding. Our kennels are very popular especially over any holiday period. Constant barkers may not be accepted. The vaccination status of your pet must be confirmed by our reception staff before the animal is presented for boarding if you are not a client. These must be booked in advance, especially over public and school holidays.

Cat and kitten rehoming programme

We run a rehoming programme to give the opportunity for abandoned cats or kittens to find a forever home. If you are looking to find a kitten or an older cat, please call reception and see what is available or alternatively visit our Facebook page
